Intermediate Skills clinics...

This course is held at Beaconsfield Upper, Victoria, Melway ref.

The aim of this course is to develop existing skills and to introduce new ones. You will be tackling advanced rocky/technical cross-country terrain. Completion of this course will equip the participant with the skills necessary to successfully ride the majority of natural cross country / purpose-built tracks.

What experience you will need...

It is strongly recommended that riders first attend the Beginner Course. The intermediate course is aimed at people who have experience of riding some technical terrain and single tracks but are keen to improve their skills. Throughout this course, you will benefit from first-class instruction by a qualified mountain-bike instructor, developing your skills alongside people at a similar level and great off-road riding at this excellent venue.

Your fitness level...

This course takes place on advanced rocky/technical cross-country terrain. It is demanding and requires levels of fitness that will enable the rider to climb for longer periods of sustained effort (up to 5-15 mins of climbing).

This said, by their nature, the courses are instruction orientated where techniques are demonstrated and explained in detail; all participants will then attempt and re-attempt the techniques to optimise individual skill levels.

What you will learn...

The aims of this course are to reinforce and develop the skills previously learned on the Beginner Course, or develop existing skills. The course will also cover the following advanced techniques:-

  • Mountain bike preparation (safety checks)
  • Steep descents
  • Slow drop-off up to ½ meter high
  • Faster drop-offs at speed
  • Bunny hops/bike lifts
  • Climbing and descending in advanced rocky / stepped terrain
  • Faster cornering techniques
  • Riding single track at speed

On the day...

Course starts at 10am and finishes at 4pm (aprox).

Your bike...

It is strongly recommended that your bike be fitted with front suspension and off-road tyres for this course.

All participants must provide their own mountain bikes, which must be in good working order.
